Tragic Heroines with the Athens Municipality Symphony Orchestra

From antiquity to the present day, the tragic heroines of Greek mythology and ancient drama have been a source of inspiration for musical creation.
In both musical theater and symphonic repertoire and chamber music, a significant number of works have been based on their figures and stories, stories full of pain and suffering, symbolism and catharsis. The Athens Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Nikos Vassiliou, invites the audience to a unique concert, entitled “Tragic Heroines” on Wednesday, February 19 at the “Maria Callas” OLYMPIA Municipal Musical Theater.
Clytemnestra, Phaedra, Hecuba, Penthesilea, Medea, Deianeira, come to life through the music of leading composers: Arvo Pärt, Benjamin Britten, Gustav Holst, Karol Szymanowski, Vincent d'Edy, Camille Saint-Saëns.
