We are pleased to announce the new publication of 2 superb works of the Greek composer Savvas Karantzias by the Dutch Publishing House Donemus. The powerful music of his two Oratorios with deep religious feeling ‘’Theophanes the Greek’’ & ‘’Andrei Rublev’’, will begin their worldwide journey.

“THEOPHANES THE GREEK” is an oratorio of about 60 min. duration, for Mixed Choir, Soprano, Piano, Percussions, String Orchestra, Narrator.

It is the adventurous course of the Founder of Russian Iconography, which reaches us through the art of painting. A spiritual testament in honor of the Greek iconographer Theophanis (c.1340-1410), a teacher including Andrei Rublev. Savvas Karantzias wanted through music to capture the talent of Theophanes the Greek in a way that characterizes "sound travel" as it provides a dynamic experience and powerful experience. Theophanes the Greek is the founder of Russian Iconography and in the work compiled by Savvas Karantzias focuses on the iconographer's four stations (four music intermissions), from his birth in Constantinople to his procedure at Crimea and on the land of Russia, in the distant Novgorod and in Moscow, which is the last destination. 

''ANDREI RUBLEV'' is an oratorio of about 60 min. duration, for Mixed Choir, Soprano, Contralto, Tenor, Bass, Percussions, String Orchestra.

It is the story of the Russian iconographer and saint Andrei Rublev (15th century) is approached with humanism and mysticism by the composer Savvas Karantzias. A musical work of reflection on art and the intellectual mission of the artist. In this way the composer shows how humanity needs a great change, the chaos we live in today between material progress and the absence of spirituality. The "wandering" of a monk with the interior of the world and the need for purification and repentance, becomes an example for all of us.

Savvas Karantzias is a very active and well known composer with numerous compositions for orchestra, chorus, chamber music and solo pieces and successful performances all over the world.
