SYMPHONIC ROCK TRANSFORMATIONS - Gus G

The musical creation of our times, contrary to the feeling that sometimes lingers in the atmosphere, is not enclosed in itself. On the contrary, it keeps open the channels of communication with other currents, listens to the pulse of the times, assimilates elements even from styles that seem to have completely different aesthetic values. Camerata and George Petrou come to prove it to us in the most resounding way. The American Philip Glass, a living legend of contemporary music and a prominent exponent of minimalism, converses with the progressive rock ideas of David Bowie and Brian Eno that marked the 20th century rock music scene. Inspired by Bach’s suites, John Lord, legendary organist of Deep Purple, wrote one of the finest crossover works in the history of music: the stunning Sarabande, which straddles the eponymous slow and lyrical form of the Baroque suite and the dynamism of the rock groove of the 1970s.
A recognized Greek guitarist on a global level, Gus G has made his mark both in the heavy metal scene and in a wider musical context. Known primarily as Ozzy Osbourne’s guitarist, he has released solo albums and is the founder of Firewind, who have been excelling on the international music scene for 25 years. His technique, which combines speed, melodicism and passion, has established him in the world of modern electric guitar, with many awards and distinctions worldwide. In this concert, he brings the energy and expressiveness of rock music in dialogue with the world of symphonic music.
